For years now, I've wanted to be a series owner. One year ago,I was fortunate enough to find a fairly solid truck in CO. I bought it and had it shipped back to NY.
I was the "newbie" on the board, and still feel very green when it comes to these trucks. Over the last year, I've asked stupid questions ,spilled copious amounts of my own blood, and through the help from everyone here have learned alot about my truck. This is my atempt at a build thread. By no means do I consider this a restoration.
This is the truck the way I found it in CO 1 1/2 yrs ago.

Jan 25 2011 - Coldest week of the winter high of 0 low of -10,what better time to pull the tranny and replace the clutch. Simple job, yank it, replace it,shove it back in were good till spring ........
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_-UbMgHRZnZg/TZSyazLTGII/AAAAAAAAF08/jQ-9fjtOLbQ/s640/DSC02747.JPG

First look at the top of the frame rails. Not bad even some original black paint.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_-UbMgHRZnZg/TZSytm7bN0I/AAAAAAAAF1I/ZVrA8geu-YI/s640/DSC02750.JPG

Maybe I should wire brush and dab a bit of paint o the top of rail before I put the seat box back in .

The metal mites in the north east are ravenous. What starts out as a rust free vehicle ,very quickly turns to ****e in three shakes of a lambs tail. A little prevention goes a long way. And besides I'm just replacing the clutch!

Very cool idea. That's an example of the kind of thinking I lack. Instead of an easy, elegant solution to a problem I generally find the hardest, least efficient way to maybe get something done.

Your project is another of the really good looking restorations that this site is good for documenting, good job.

You can get those scissor jacks from the junk yard for $5 each or 2 for $15 :D.Make sure its a hex head drive not like the one in the pic.I'd get two for the project. My first one crapped out half way through the fourth bushing. If I was smart I would have pulled the old through with the new one. Then again that maybe too much friction.

I think I got the leaks under control in the steering box.https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_-UbMgHRZnZg/TdHT9G7ul2I/AAAAAAAAHo0/f_0StOY4bxI/s512/DSC03129.JPG

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_-UbMgHRZnZg/TdHVyMNYWHI/AAAAAAAAHqI/ErGjz85wgqM/s512/DSC03145.JPG

In my rush to install the steering box I overlooked the throtle linkage.Back off it comes.
Brake and clutch towers installed ,new lines run. Exust installed

It doesn't look like there's a whole lot of stonework getting done over there! ;)

Seriously though...Nice work Sean. You've got more done on yours in 3 weeks than I have in 6 years on mine.

You've gotta stop though...you're adding to the number of Rovers that my 109 feels inadequate being around. :D

Thanks everyone for the support.:thumb-up:
Yeah ,not much stonework or anything else for that matter. My wife thinks I'm a Rover junky. If this doesnt push my marriage over the edge I think I'll keep her around for another few years.
My goal is to drive it out for the B by the Sea weekend (16 days). Truth be known I'm a little ahead of my pics in progress, but I wanted to streach out the thread and bore everyone for as long as possible .The clutch project was an after thought ,I needed an excuse to push my posts to 300 so I could get to third gear :D

Looks good right! ....Not so fast bucko your water pump $hit the bed. Drain all the new antifreeze,be sure to spill half on the ground during the process.Take it all apart ,repaint a new one, then put back together.

So on the two lower rear corners of the galvy trim there are what look like remenants of some sort of reflextors. They are on my other trucks as well ,are they factory, can you still get them, and does anybody have a pic of what they look like .

On my 63, the reflectors were fairly small (maybe 1.25" diameter) and mounted in rubber retainers. I got the reflectors in a bunch of parts from the original owner, but I had to make the rubber retainers out of some brake wheel cylinder rubber boots.

For the miltary size reflectors (about 2.25") that mount with a stud, they are available from RN ($$$ Genuine). I got mine from rovahfarm for $7 each. They are p/n 551595.

Unfortunately not. Most of the work was completed in the early 90's. "Ivarra" here on the forums now has it and he has performed a few upgrades.
