View Full Version : Defender Door Hinges/Mirrors

I finally got tired of the mirrors falling off my SIII so I bought some new Defender mirrors. I discovered that the hinge mounts on a SIII are too small. So, does anyone have some Defender hinges they'd sell to me ASAP/cheap?

or

I'm not opposed to drilling holes in my Series hinges, but they are angled where the mirrors would mount and the Defenders mirrors would require a flat surface. Anyone have a side by side of the two hinges?

or

If anyone has two extra SIII hinges, I could probably mill them flat or make a new flat door-side part of the hinge.

Need a solution ASAP.

Thanks,
Matt

Honestly, I don't think the defender hinge is milled flat there. You just torque down the screws and be sure to use locktite since you have to take the door off the hinge to tighten the mirror if the work loose.

yup, the defender style hinges are not flat. The mirror mount has a radius to it.

Are you guys sure? Look at this:

Although cast rather than milled, the mirror mount area sure looks flat to me. It's definitely more flat than my Series hinge.

I have a couple of the defender door hinges with the holes for the mirrors I can send you - no charge, just cover the shipping if you like. I have extra from an upgrade I did.

I don't think the drilled hinges are different than the non-drilled ones. Except for the holes..... I drilled holes in one of my hinges to mount a mirror.

Here are pics of the Defender type mirrors on SIII hinges on the wife's Bronze Green SIIA, and a set of hinge mounted SIII mirrors on my Pastel Green SIII.
