    Brake cylinder interchangeability?

I tried searching without luck....Does anyone know if the rear and front wheel brake cylinders can be interchanged?..I know there is a right and left, however the front and rear look very similar. 1973 Series 3
    Thanks,,,

On a pre-1980 88, the front wheel cylinders are 1.25" diameter and the rears are 1.0" diameter. Lefts and rights are also different, the bleeder and brake tube fittings switch places.

The only interchangeability I can recall is that 109" rears are the same as 88" fronts. Of course there is always the strong possibility I am wrong.

^^You are correct. Same goes for the later SIIIs that used the 109" front brakes.

I once switched front & rear wheel cylinders on a IIA by mistake. The rear wheels would lock up rather easily.
