I have been having a hard time getting the timing belt tight. I am using a breaker bar with a short extension, but it doesn't hold in the square hole very well and when I get things tight it still doesn't seem tight and jump timing after a few minutes of running.
Any suggestions?
thank you,
James

James,
I just put a 1/2" exntension into the square hole in the tensioner plate, and using torque wrench applied 21ft/lb to the belt. I made some wooden blocks to hold the injection pump gear and cam gear in place while tightening. Tighten the nuts to lock the tensioner once belt is at tension. Most important though is to rotate the engine 1 complete revolution and repeat.
Hope it helps.
Geoff
