I have looked all over and can't find anyone selling the extended mirror stalks needed for mouting rear view mirrors on a Series III Lightweight's fenders. The standard Series III units aren't tall enough for you to see over the LW's higher hood.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
Andy

Could you make some out of steel rod with a bend in it and a threaded section at the bottom?

Did you contact P.A. Blanchard (http://www.pablanchard.co.uk/default.asp)? They usually have most of the military-specific stuff.

Is this what you are looking for:

But out of curiosity, why do you want to switch from the defender style mirrors?

Those dont look like the correct ones for a lightweight. I think the lightweight has a higher hood so the arms are longer before the bend. Those look like regular ones.

Found those using the partnumber from the Lightweight Parts book. That's probably why they went to the door mounted mirrors, that and the fact that there were usually antenna mounts on the fenders if it was FFR.

Linus is correct - those don't appear to be the extended ones I am needing.

LaneRover - I have thought about doing just that. Would prefer to keep it as last resort as I am not good with a torch and don't have a mandral bender. I have even thought of contacting some custom car shops in the area hoping they could do this for me - just scared of how much $ they will want or basically a $5 part.

Thanks for the link to PA Blanchard - first I have heard of them and possible they may have the right ones.

As to why I want these - I have Defender mirrors on now and will be keping them - just like the look of the fender mounted mirrors, more traditional for a Rover.

I appreciate the help.

You could always get one of those chrome 'twisty neck' mirrors from those lowrider bikes or the mod scooters from the 60's.

Try contacting John Craddock in the UK. A while back they had several sets of the Lightweight-specific wing mirror arms in stock. Otherwise, check with the guys at the Lightweight Club for sources:

Arthur John Charles and Sons, LTD. used to make them. Part number was AJC21. not sure if they still do.

From their old catalog:
Extra Long Wing Top Mirror Arm Product Code: AJC21, Light Weight Mirror Arm

XSBOWES - I looked all over the site and couldn't find the mirrors or that part number. Looks like they no longer stock them. :(

JAC04 - Great site, they may actually have the mirror mounts. Sent them a note to confirm, we shall see. :thumb-up:

LaneRover - I am worried about ya man, seriously. :D

Thanks again for the help guys!
