I am continuing to clean the frame of my 64 swb 2a. Today I removed the rear driveshaft, mainly for the purpose of getting it out of the way while I worked on the frame. ONce mud and crud was removed there was nothing obviously wrong with the u joints. Is there a diagnostic procedure I can use to accurately evaluate their status, or should I simply change them out while the truck is apart?
Thanks.

Since there's nothing to taking the driveshaft out when the time comes, give the joints a shot of grease, stick the driveshaft back in and worry about it when they DO fail. Use the time you saved by kicking back a=with your favorite adult beverage.

Take it to a driveshaft shop. They'll replace whatever needs to be replaced and balance said driveshaft.

Out of balance driveshafts can kill pinion bearings, seen it happen a few times on Jeeps and other off road buggies. This brings on significant depression.
