This is likely a simple question, but I keep getting turned-around..... As i prepare to rebuild the rear seals, hubs, bearings and brakes, I have most everything ready to go on. But, I have seen no place that definitively addresses the orientation of the snail cam brake adjuster. I ASSUME that they should be oriented consistently so that a clockwise turn of the adjusting bolt results in tightening the shoes against the drum. But this results in two questions:
1- is that assumption correct?
&
2- does it matter from a mechanical standpoint?
Hopefully, this is the biggest issue I face as I replace the stub axle distance piece, inner seal, bearings, brakes and drive member components. After really focusing on cleaning up rust and grime, this is finally the first rebuild/renewal step. The road seems long but it is exciting to finally be making a small but definitive move toward a working vehicle.
