Is it possible to convert a IIA pickup to a hardtop? If so, would you just need to remove the pickup's rear window unit and tailgate, and then replace with an 88" hardtop?

Thanks in advance!

For the most part. You'd need to find an upper rear door or install a lower hinge to use a full rear door.

Exactly. If you don't want to keep the p-up top you could sell that to get the bits for the hardtop. But p-up tops tend to be a bit rarer just so you know.

As does the 'liftgate' that is needed to work with the tailgate.

That's the word I was looking for--liftgate!

Thanks all for the quick responses. I'm thinking about buying a pickup and wanted to know my options for conversion. If I end up with an extra p-up top, I'll post here first!

If you dont already own the pick up why dont you just buy a regular Series hardtop rather than convert? Is this just to see if you could do it?

As you can see from the responses the p-up tops are a bit rare. Having the various tops is pretty cool. I have a 109 p-up that has the p-up top, a full canvas as well as the 3/4 canvas for use with the p-up. It is pretty cool to be able to switch them back and forth.

I have an 88 hard top I am looking to sell. In NY. Probably enjoy a p/u but I enjoy the soft top too much now.
