Hello all,

So placing my order for rivets with Jaycee tomorrow. So far:

-Various sizes of closed end full aluminum pop rivets
-Solid round head aluminum 3/16 rivets in 2 diff lengths
-3/16 aluminum truss head semi tubular rivets for roof gutter/roof
-Shank for semi tubular 3/16 rivets
-Shank for 3/16 round head rivets (trying the air hammer at low pressure as recommended)

Question is:

Everywhere I have read that the roof gutter/roof uses 3/16 semi tub truss head rivets. This morning, while counting the holes, I checked the sizes using drill bits.....definitely 5/32!

Is my roof unique....should I drill them out to 3/16 (and hence also the roof)?? Please comment, as the shank must also match the rivet size I get.

Regards,
Julian

The semi-tubular rivets fastening the roof to gutter are 5/32" diameter.

When I did my roof I used 3/16 semi-tubulars. Once I removed the original rivets, which were barely holding on any longer, most of the holes were 3/16 anyway. I did have to dill a fewl, but not many. You can't tell to look at it, and the slightly larger size is :stronger" :D

Thanks all,

Am going to stay with the 5/32. I have the gutter, but the roof is at the painters, and will save myself more drilling.

Will order the stuff today. Rivets come in boxes of 100.....counted the rivets in the roof.....approximately 160

Cheers,
Julian
