few questions 74 109 ex mod. vacuum hose connect from the dist? 2.25 pet.

    Okay a few questions.
    1. where does the vacuum hose connect from the distributor?
    2. where should I mount the coil?, I am not sure where the coil was before but the rover did not come with one nor did the engine.
    3. What kind of air filter should I put on the weber carb?

    Thank you,

    Tasi

There is a fitting on the base of the carburetor.

On ex-MOD engined, the coil was usually mounted to a bracket that sits on top of the valve cover. You can use a regular coil bracket and mount it to the bulkhead just behind the valve cover on the RH side.

Use the original air bath oil cleaner. Otherwise, you can use a more conventional type filter mounted in place of the oil bath. This is what I did:

      Jac,

Not to hijack the thread, but the rubber coupler on the end of the air cleaner metal t (where it meets the carb....with the 2 hose clamps)....where did you buy that?

      Thanks,
      Julian

Thanks Jac.....will be ordering a few things from them Wednesday....will ask. Didn't think to look since it was a Weber non-orig carb!

Note that there are at least two different sizes of the carb elbows that connect to the carb to the air cleaner flex hose. The larger diameter elbow uses an adapter ring that fits on the Weber carb neck to match the size of the elbow opening. Your carb might already have one.

              Jac thanks again

Jac, I love your pics with the illustrations. All three questions you knocked out of the park. Thanks again.

                funny

the funny thing is, after you point out some of these things, they seem so obvious. On the other hand I would rather ask an obvious question at the risk of looking silly rather than doing it wrong.

Your very welcome Tasi. Keep the questions coming, even if they seem obvious. We're all here to help.
