We have a Series II 109 SW that shifts fine double clutching from first to second when it's warm out (50F +) but at colder temps we are grinding some. Just had slave and master cylinders replaced. All other shifting is good. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you changed out the transmission fluid? -
Put the transfer case in neutral after you start it and put it in gear to let it soften up the oil for a minute. It might help.Comment

We have replaced the fluid. Will try the warm up of the transfer case since temperature is clearly part of this. Thanks.Comment

Could also be the pilot bush giving some extra friction.Les Parker

Thanks
Thanks again for all the good advice. It does shift just fine after a few minutes warmup. The neutral idea helped. I also at first just shift into second a little early with no grinding.Comment

Not that this will help, but.. Most of the time when driving around in the city,
I start off in second.
I do start in neutral, and always let my Series warm up a bit before leaving.Comment
