All,

Your help throughout this process is MUCH appreciated!! Several have asked me to post some more updates, so here is today's progress! Tomorrow should see L/R door handles installed; new speedo cable installed at the tranny; front vent flaps done; and some roof touch ups complete.

Although mostly stock, there is some creative license....er, big Union Jack!!!

Cheers,
Julian

Looks very nice.
If you flip the work light bracket over it will lower the light a little and keep it from being hit by tree branches scraping over the top. May not be applicable in your case.

Julian - very nice looking rig! The union jack on the roof is brilliant! I'll send you my truck to work on when you are done :D.

I think you've done an absolutely great job. I may have to paint my '73 now.

All,

Thanks for the comments! Even though I am a rookie, I have done some resto work on my other Brit cars, but each one is unique.... and without all of your insight and great tips, I would not be where I am after 3 months or so.

Of course, I did not get as far as I wanted over the weekend, so back at it today after a day off work and a break yesterday due to a late night concert ending at 2am!!

That Union Jack was a crap shoot. Being British, I have UJs all over the place, and have always wanted one on the roof like a MINI. Found a guy in the UK who did the MINI vinyl decals, and he was able to make one to the dimensions I needed. When I got it, I had to trim around the vent blisters on the roof shield carefully, but it came out well!

Back at it today.....drain the axles and swivel balls in case water got in somehow during the steam cleaning a few months back. Hopefully will have the doors closing (handles are installed now).

More soon!

Julian

PS Jac.....Good catch on the work lamp bracket. I am not concerned about branches, etc... but I left my roof rack off as it won't fit into the garage with it on.....that work lamp might scrape the garage door....if it does I will reverse the bracket as you mentioned :thumb-up:

Great job! Love it!

Any chance of the guy in the UK making up any more of the Union Jacks!?

Thor,

If you want the guy's contact info, PM me. I am sure he would make more up. But for the cutting around the blisters (straight edge and a sharp razor), it fits perfectly the 88 sun shield.
