I have seen that truck. Pretty sure it goes by Timshel and has been haunting the winter romp in Unity Maine.

I suspect that 90wt isn't the only aroma that this beast gives off!

Odd, my son-in-law showed me a pic of the same truck last night except with Ziggy Marley standing in front of it. News story said that Ziggy was going to restore it.

Definitely need to keep a fire extinguisher near-by if he's doing it!

Hope they dont paint it! There are stories in that patina. to paint Marleys rover is akin to polishing a record. If they need something shiny do another 109. SIII 109's are pretty easy to come by. I hope the people doing the restoration realize this. Thanks for the link Les.

Luckily there is a pizza place right next door when you get hungry . . .

Marley’s Land Rover has proven to be very popular with both visitors and museum staff alike. In fact, the museum’s general manager, Jacqueline Lynch-Stewart, called the SUV’s removal “very traumatic” for employees.

Lot's of places to stash in an old wagon like that :sly:

who / where did the diesel come from?

I like that they're restoring it.. But at the same time, turning it into a showroom vehicle really takes away any and all of the Marley heritage. So Im kinda torn. Do they really need a perfect running vehicle to sit in a museum? It would have been more work, but a "turn back the time" refurbishing, to the condition as Bob left it would be most ideal in my opinion.

Les, is that the original diesel from Marleys truck or a nice replacement?

Why is it green? 2.25 diesels are grey.

Bob,

There was no engine when I went to view it. We purchased it stateside, rebuilt it and sprayed it the correct Series III Engine colour, heat paint treated the valve cover and exhaust manifold, a real crisp sounding 2.25 diesel, if such a beastie exists !
The donor engine has some history also, same age as the Marley, though this spent time in East Africa, then to Nigeria and to Stateside when a USA citizen brought it over to rebuild the Rover. It was replaced over here with a 2.5 NAD. Thanks for asking, all of this will be shown in greater detail as the rebuild continues.......

So, the vehicle is being handed over to the Marley Foundation today, Feb 6th. This would have been Bob Marley's 70th birthday, may he rest in peace. Some pix of the handover to follow. Sorry I could not be there for the hand-over ceremony.

Looking for pictures, this is about all I could find of the finished vehicle.
I'm sure a lot of work went into it, but too bad it didn't get a real high-end restoration. Matte-blue paint?

I'm curious about what "upholstering the interior in a modern Rasta aesthetic" looks like.
