I'm in the process of rebuilding my clutch master cylinder and upon pulling it apart I found that the spring has a resin-like substance cast onto the end. The green bible shows that there should be a metal clip at that end of the spring instead. Has anyone seen this before? The resin appears to be decent, but it is chipped a little and as long as I have it pulled apart I am more inclined to make it as it should be. I'm not sure if this is a replacement/hack that a previous owner did or if it is a standard replacement item. If not, is there anywhere to get a replacement spring and metal clip?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the pictures Neil, they actually did help. From your pictures it looks as though the part/clip I'm talking about is actually plastic (?). The more I look at my parts and do research, the more I'm thinking this is a replacement cylinder that was put on years ago... when I removed mine it did not have a gasket between the master cylinder and the bracket, and in addition to that clip not being there the piston has an extra o-ring on it in addition to the seal itself.

Although the pieces seem to be a bit odd everything is cleaning up well (including the bore) so I'm having a hard time justifying spending the money on a brand new one. Does anyone still have an old master cylinder (or just the internal parts) that they're looking to get rid of??
