All,
I am wondering if anyone knows the difference between the sIII 2.25 diesel exhaust manifold and the 2.5 diesel exhast manifold.

Thanks

I think I have figured out what to do but Jeff told me that the engine in this thing was a 2.5 which I have decided that it is not. What I cant decide is if he has put a 2.5 head on it and since the intake manifold is different for a 2.25 vs a 2.5..... They look exactly the same in the pictures I have found, but the part number is different.

you should have driven the REO to mendo.

intake manifolds are different one is 180 deg bend, one is 45 deg

The part numbers for the exhaust manifold for a 2.25 and a 2.5 are different.

I think that jeff put a 2.5 head on the engine because I know he had to get it from canada and that he thought the engine was a 2.5. So, I am trying to determine what the actual difference in the exhaust manifolds is because I cant tell from the pictures that I have seen.

Make sense?!?!?

Of course, I dont actually know if a 2.5 head would even fit on the 2.25 block, but the information that I got when I purchased the truck has put the idea in my head that SOMETHING is different. I just dont know what.

If the comparison pics all look the same, then it might be the outlet size. The 2.5 was meant for a 2" exhaust downpipe and uses 3 studs on the outlet, whereas... I have no idea what the 2.25 has for an outlet, but generally they are all piped with 1.75" exhaust systems.

I can post pics of my 2.5 manifold (removed) if you need.

the 2.25 exhaust goes out the fender, the 2.5 goes down between the frame and motor. intake and exhaust manifolds are different.
