Hi all, long time admirer and new owner here; '72 SIII 88".

I will post an official intro thread w/ better pics & details later, but for now I am looking for a spare retaining cam for the hood mounted spare. I have the 7.50x16 wheel/tire and the part is NLA from the sources I've contacted so far. Figured I'd toss it out to the forums. Thank you.

Your best bet is to try Ike Goss or watch Ebay UK. The 7.50X16 cams will not be easy to find.

Try these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-SPARE-WHEEL-CLAMPS-LONG-/180855259006?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a1bd03f7e

Some more expensive ones found with searching too (I can provide a search, if you like), but I second contacting Ike of Pangolin 4x4.

While the 'ol cam/toggle things are the "original" thing, there is a better way. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defender-spare-wheel-bracket-MRC5063-/220969160679?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3372c9cfe7#ht_1276wt_1005)
I bought this cz it actually holds the wheel in place, and is far easier to use. Works with Series spare carrier.

The long clamps are part # 307235. PA Blanchards has them.

I'm using the Defender one as well. I just wish my bolts were a tad longer.

Interesting. £13.49 on ebay, or £9.99 from the seller's web site.

Probably to cover eBay & PayPal fees. Even if you manage to get free listing (less than 50 listings a month, no bells & whistles) eBay still takes a percent of the final sale price and the final shipping price. Then you get PayPal fees on top of that which are higher than standard credit card processing rates.

Not really a great deal for buyer or seller.
