Hi,

I am about to finish my project landrover series 2a SWB, but till now I am not satisfy with wheel look :( and I am thinking to use spacer with rim and with 7.5R16 Michlin XS tyres to have rigged look .

How many mm spacer I would to go with? Any recommended product? Or not recommend to have spacer?

Any one have spacer on standard landy rim can share the picture?

This how my landy rim look:

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/daveslandyandngstuff/wheels.htm you could probably do what you desire just by sourcing some different rims.

Using something like the ANR4636 wheel will help widen the track a little if you are currently using the older type wheels. What part number is stamped on your wheels?

Maybe instead of using a 7.50x16 tire, try a 235/85/16 tire. It will be wider and give you the "look" you are trying to get.

I would not simply add a spacer. You will run out of threads for the lug nuts.

I would agree with the recommendation to avoid the spacer if you can. A wider wheel and/or a wider tire could get you what you want. Another option would be the same width of wheel with a different offset.

How? All the Land Rover wheel spacers I've ever seen had studs on them.

I have 30mm spacers on the 109". I have wolf rims and the studs are a little shorter than I'd like but 7000 miles later and not one of the 20 lugnuts have budged at all. Our hosts sell spacers.

How?
Sorry - I assumed he was going to just try to add a quick & dirty spacer plate with holes in it.

Here in the US they are like trying to find hen's teeth.

The company I got them from doesn't make them anymore. I believe Scorpion Racing in the UK still makes some. Oops, nevermind, they've gone out of business.

Seems to be a pretty good price on them here. Not sure about shipping to Dubai

Hi,
Finally the project is done and it is time for new cool tyres. currently i am a bit confuse in tyre size and what would fit in right size. The largest tyre can fit correctly on Series 2a is 7.50R16, I am seeking for advice is 7.50R16 and 245/85R16 will fit comfirtable into the series2a? and do any have a photo for such tire on standard series2a?

here below photo of selection I do have to put on, also for completed project with little leak :p

For me, 750R16 would be the choice. Wide tyres are not always good on an old landie.

Those Sumitomo's look like they'd be good in the sand and mud. Could lose traction in the wet. Could be noisy too.

The Shaheen's would be a lot quieter on the road and useless off road.

The Shaheen's ... useless off road.

Yep but in my case our off road is totally sandy and sand :p and may rain a day in a year!

But does 7.50R16 looks oversize?

Thanks

But does 7.50R16 looks oversize?

I don't know how it could. 750-16 was the standard stock tyre size for a 109 and one of 2 standard sizes for 88s. They are a 32 inch 81.3cm) dia tyre.

The Series Land Rover has narrow tyres because in the UK mud is often not very deep. Tall narrow tyres can dig down and get bight in firmer soil below the soaked mud. Not the best strategy if you are playing in a big sand box. Though it works fine on dry packed soil.

If it were me, I would go with a wider tyre on a wider rim. The Discovery I steel wheel is the widest Land Rover wheel that will fit a Series truck. It is a 7 inch (17.8 cm) wide rim. I would get a set of those rims or even wider aftermarket rims, and search for a tyre about 81 cm in diameter that is the widest that would fit your bead to bead wheel width and has a tread pattern that would be right for your intended terrain.

I am currently running 33.3 inch 84.6 cm) diameter tyres on Discovery I wheels under my 109.
