    Old Man Emu shock installation

So I finally bit the bullet on parabolics and new shocks.
I'm having difficulty installing the shocks .I cant get them to clear the axle housing . The older shocks were slightly smaller in diameter and just clear the Emus are larger and dont have clearance.
Am I missing something ? Its almost like I have to refab. the bottom spring plates shock holder back another 1'' or so ?????

    Sean-
Do you have a picture? Are you having the same problem front & rear? I installed OME shocks on a 63 88" that I restored without any issues at all. Installed them on the Lightweight as well. Front & rear spring plates are different - the front is a little longer IIRC. Any chance you have them swapped?

      Jeff,
They are definitively the front springs.I'll get a picture up a little later.I noticed that the old ones were slightly dented from bumping the axle as well.

Still thinking the spring plates may not be correct. Pictures will tell.

This sounds strange. My '67 has parabolics and OME and did not have any problem with clearance or mounting. Something sounds wonky.

Almost looks like you have rear spring\shock plates on the front.

can you post pictures of the bottom of the plate? I wonder if you have the right side up, or have the right plate on the left side or something like that

Not normal at all. Looks like the wrong spring plates. Looks like rears used on the front. The fronts drop down at the rear and are longer, which will provide plenty of clearance between the shock and the axle housing.
Not the best picture, but you get the idea:

                      Okay fellas,that solved the issue.
Some yahoo put the spring plates on the wrong way last spring ,OH wait that was me .
                      Thanks for setting me straight.
                      Cheers

Dealing with the same problem with ProComp shocks with my Rocky Mountain Parabolics. Same type of yahoo seems to have mixed up the front/back spring plates.
