No, I haven't seen that on a Rover, but I have seen that top camper conversion on other vehicles (thinking about it, they were camper units in the back of full size pickups). I thought it was kinda neat because in the folded down position one could still drive through the brush without snagging on tree branches. Maybe it's a "hunter" thing. ;)

Looks like someone redid the Dormobile for a 90.

I have seen something like that before. You might be able to find a vw vanagon camper in the Junkyard with the pop top and modify it to work on a 109 or 110.

I haven't seen this before. The tent part looks just like the bed of a small tent trailer.
My wife & I where just looking at doormobile pics a couple nights ago thinking of what we can make for our 109, this is a good idea.

People have thought about that in the past and decided that the VW tops would not fit the LR narrow body.

It kinda looks like a Dormie-ish top with an updated modernized version of a Carawagon type 80 interior. The folks at R.J. Searle Ltd were much better than the Martin Walter folks at interior space utilization.

This design looks to be an improvement over the 1960's UK Land Rover motor caravan offerings.

At Billing 1996 an 88 from Germany attended that was modified was a copy of Doug White's design (http://www.expeditionlandrover.info/G_ExpidRovers.htm), both inside and outside. The parts needed to make the top a lifting top were made from wood.

Something like the early Westfalia turret would be cool:

The second version of the Land Rover Park Ranger has this kind of top. Only problem is that the scissor type lifting frame doesn't allow for a lot of lift an remain stable in winds.
