Just bought my first Series truck. Can't wait to get under the hood but I wanted to run all the numbers first to verify exactly what I would be tearing apart. Engine number is 94118826C. Found only one vague reference to it being from an SIII lightweight, but there was no other info listed. 8:1 comp? 5 bearing? Year? Also found a tag (under 1/2 inch of sludge) stuck to bottom of block above sum7015p, see photo. Any clues? Want to know what I'm getting into BEFORE getting into it. Many thanks.

Hmm... Is it a 6-cylinder engine? What's it in right now? According to the Glencoyne site (http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/engno.htm), 941XXXXXX is the block of 2.6, 6-cylinder Series III engine serial numbers. Is it a 70's RHD 109?

The 951xxxxxx engines are 4-cylinder engines out of air portables.

The tag looks like an engine rebuild tag.

I agree, the tag looks like a reman tag. Not sure if they put a 6 in the air portables? What year is your truck? Is it an 88 or 109? is it a II, IIa, III? Do you have the chassis number to research?

First ever forum post...typo. It is 951xxxxxC. Sorry! It's in a 64 SIIA, 2.25 petrol, 88". Chassis is 24413159B. Just Googled glencoyne and saw the reference. Came up with a lot of gibberish when I looked up the info on the blue tag. Original owner was from VT. PO used it as a daily driver since '97, and never did any major work to the engine(i have a box of receipts). Is there any way to tell the compression and # of main bearings without pulling the sump? Engine has part #ERC5899CA on it and a '5' stamped on top, rear of head. I'm assuming that means 5 bearing, but you know what they say about assuming. Was planning on getting greasy this weekend but wanted to learn as much as I could ahead of time. Block is now painted blu, but there seems to be red paint underneath. Does that help? Thanks again.

Hey Rob, tried to do some quick research for you but was not able to match the chassis number that you listed...couldn't match the 13159 serial number. Any chance you made a mistake? The "B" designation could be anyone of a number of factory modifications depending on when it was actually built. The website below has a bunch of info for researching chassis numbers and suffix info. Go to the production and history tab. Hope this helps.
