Can I just unscrew and replace, or do I have to bleed?

Yes bleed cz you are introducing air.

No real need to bleed the system, while you might introduce a little air in, it is hardly noticable. Just don't go stepping on the brakes while the switch is out, and don't take all afternoon to screw in the new one. Did this last year prior to my state vehicle inspection. never re-bled the brakes, and never had an issue. I did go back and rebleed them this spring when I redid the swivel balls though.

I just went back to my original dilema thread in Dec. 2010 to see what was recommended then. Terry, a very knowledgeable member here stated there was no real need to re-bleed the brakes after the hydrolic brake switch replacement.

Stomper, you shouldn't even have to bleed the system. Make sure the reservoir is full, unscrew the old one and put the new one in and there won't be any air admitted.

X2 from me :)

Unplug, take old switch out, screw new one in and good to go.
