Any hints on how to get the filler-strip into the corner window weather-stripping on a pickup cab would be greatly appreciated.

You need the tool.

I just did this recently myself. Yes I am now Captain Obvious, you need the spline tool, I used silicone spray to lube things, worked nice. And lastly the spline side is the outside of the top. Like I said I'm now Captain Obvious.....
