OK, I ran across a site months ago and forgot to bookmark it. You could see the DAY (well the date begun and date off the line) of manufacture for a Land Rover Series 3. I believe it also said what the paint color was. I am trying to find my paint color (photo of Landy attached if anybody knows). But I'd also like this site address if anybody has it. Thanks! --Jason7296

I don't know the site you are referring to, but that paint color looks like a very faded pastel green to me. You may want to look at the color on the rear bulkhead or somewhere that the sun hasn't faded it so much to be sure.

Your truck is definitely pastel green, with limestone wheels and top. RTFFAQ (http://www.lrfaq.org/)

Pastel green is the correct color for your vehicle...40ish years ago. It would not match if you were doing touch up paint, but if you're respraying the whole thing it will work.

Patina, patina, patina...do not paint that beautiful Series!!! My opinion only.

haha I'm not suggesting he paints the gem! Just that it won't match unless it's a full paint, because of the patina of course!

The PO of my Series 2a did this, they mailed a letter along with a copy of the log book. Mine was built on or about January 7, 1969 making one of the early "bug eyes". Not that it adds value or anything but just a neat thing to have.:) I also have a formula for the pastel green that he had made using a "color" gun. What that does is takes a scan of the color, then formulates the color. IT is a DuPont color formula, same for the limestone.:)
