I can't seem to get the two manifolds to come apart. I took all the nuts and bolts off and they are out of the truck but, it appears that the two are cooked together. Anybody had any luck unsticking them? Before I start whacking away with a hammer I thought I'd ask around.

The gasket has become very hard and stuck over the years. Give it a good long soak with something like WD40 and then you should be able to pry them apart. I wouldn't bang them too hard with a hammer, too hard to replace.

I would set up a electrolysis tank and let it soak. Give it a day or so and the rust will convert to iron oxide and the parts will come apart easily. Here is a site to get you started.

These will come apart with the proper fluids soaking and a little prompting, soft hammer preferably,

Uh, no. A lye or hcl solution will destroy the aluminum.

I would use heat.

Technically speaking, the aluminum intake manifold would no longer be stuck to the cast iron exhaust manifold after this process though. :D

Use a plastic dead blow or brass hammer on the intake. Should pop loose.

Where was lye or HCL mentioned? All I use is water, washing soda and electrical current.
