View Full Version : Was running ... now no fire

So I have been using the RRC (1989 NAS) all week and last few days the alternator belt was squealing a bit so I decided to swap it. I slackened the bolt off and the bolt on the water pump so I could swing it well over, replaced the bolt, then tensioned it up with a pry bar to tighten the clamp bolts. I then went to start it up - engine spins over at a good speed ... but no firing ... not even a cough.

Any ideas please anyone? Have I broken the 2 small white wires that run past the alternator ... or is there something else that I have disturbed please? Thank you.

Paul

Might be the ignition amplification module. Check out this link. I've been told that they go regularly about every 100K miles.

Many thanks for the suggestion, however I eventually traced it to the two low tension(?) wires going to the base of the distributor. I had nicked both of these and so when I spliced them together everything worked like it was supposed to!
