Help: No Oil Pressure

I have a 94 D90 recently lost oil pressure -- changed the filter and the spring inside the oil pump (rebuild kit) did an oil change and nothing -- no oil was pumped into the filter. Dropped the pan and everything was clean no clog or gunk--took apart the oil pump checked the gears -- seemed okay -- housing had a small bit or wear -- just ordered new oil pump assembly with new gears shafts etc.-- Has anyone had a similar situation or am I just throwing unnecessary parts in the truck? did you ever figure out your problem with low oil pressure?

You may have lost pump prime. Refer to http://www.trailhead4x4.com/18401.html

...pack the pump with lube to prime the pump.
