    Warn Hub Installation Problem?

When I tried to install Warn M11 hub, the outermost "half" with 6 bolts wouldn't slide up tight to the inner "half" by about 1/4". Like the end of the axle is interfering? Am I being really stupid? Also, how much in-and-out play is correct for the front axle when the castle nut is off? Many thanks.

You'll notice a nub on the end of the stub shaft that is used when they machine the shaft. You will need to remove that with a grinder or your favorite tool of choice. That contacts the ramp mechanism inside the hub causing the gap you have. Just keep removing a little at a time until it fits and you can easily turn the selector by hand.
