    Tex-Magna lite wiring question

I'm rebuilding my Tex Magna Lite flasher. While bench testing the unit, I couldn't get the light on the unit to come on and flash unless I hooked it directly to the green/red wire, or the green/white wire. then it would come on and flash along with the turn signal light. According to my wiring diagram, the black/red wire powers the bulb from the P post on the Lucas three post flasher unit. Could I have a bad flasher unit?

I think I have a bad flasher. With the indicator flashing the turn signal, there is no power to the P post on the flasher unit. Confirmed with a test light. What are my flasher unit options? Thank you.

The #550 three prong flasher should work just fine. The NAPA part number is NF 550, but a similar part should be available from any of the good auto parts places. The three prong flashers were used in a number of early applications including the hazard flashers on late '60s early '70 MGs and Triumphs and turn signals on TR3s and early TR4s.

        Thanks. I'll check NAPA tomorrow.

Where is the flasher unit typically installed on the series?

On a IIA it's behind the instrument panel where the gauges are. It should be mounted on the firewall.
