Im looking to upgrade my stock 2.6L alternator on the Shorland. Current one will not keep up with the systems that have been added (cameras and espar heater). Thus espar heater is now in lockout mode from a series of low voltage starts.

Any know of a good upgrade. I have heard it may be possible to use a 3.5L alternator.

Any ideas?

Not sure if you're looking for a drop-in replacement or whether you are willing to do a bit of fabrication work, but the old 94-amp 12si alternator is a pretty popular choice for folks doing alternator upgrades across many varied platforms.

Of course you may not need to go that high to notice an improvement from the anemic 34-amp alternator you currently have in the RTC3845 or RTC3847 part numbers (Lucas 16 ACR).

Also...

Here's a link to what appears to be an almost 'bolt-in' upgrade for the Lucas 16 ACR alternator that was also used on MGs:

And the part number for the Saturn seems to cross-reference to a bunch of other manufacturer/supplier part numbers, though you's want to do your homework before buying:

A 3.5/3.9 85amp Alt should work, though you may have to drill the threads from the alt. housing, as the Series uses a different hole in the alt. casing.

2p.
I have a good used one you can try !
