Anyone have an unused Timm Cooper Series Brake kit laying around they'd like to unload?

They seem to have been out of new kits for a while now. Not wanting to take sales away from them, if you can not find one of Timm's kits you can try Heystee Automotive (http://www.heystee-automotive.com/onlineshop/catalog/index.php?cPath=38). The kit that Paul Heystee developed also uses stock Defender calipers and rotors.

I have heard that the ROAM kit is a dead pony. Maybe it will go back in production some day. I think Jonesy got the last one.

TeriAnn, I know you used Torrell industries' kit and I appreciate your excellent review of the build on your site. I think I read that you'd consider going with Heystee's product today, so with Timm Cooper's system seemingly off the table that may well be the way I go. Any suggestions for changing the master cylinder/brake pedal mechanism?

That's OK . I mainly wrote all those 200 or so pages just to have something to do and keep myself entertained. I have a poor memory so it helps me remember how to do something next time it needs doing.

Bottom line is I recommend a SIII brake pedestal, Santana brake booster, and early One Ten master brake cylinder for a front disc brake dual brake system conversion.

If you are adventurous you can go to a pre 1990 Defender pedestal and type 50 servo.

If you are really adventurous, have a deluxe bonnet and don't mind cutting clearance slots to the very edge you can go with a pre 1990 type 80 servo and pedestal or a US spec non-ABS Defender pedestal & servo. You just need to be sure that you match the servo with the pedestal.

A lot depends upon how much brake you want for the pedal effort, how much work you are willing to do and how adventurous you are at cutting body panels.

I really like this colour of pink. If I hadn't named my truck "The Green Rover" back in '78 It might be that colour today. I've been temped to paint it pink a few times. I settled for painting the Salisbury diff cover pink and the truck body British racing green.

But that really is a lovely shade of pink. :rolleyes:

I actually ran into Timm about 9 months ago, and he confirmed this to me. I don't have any inside info other than that.

Aha! Thank you!

After the ROAM OFF-ROAD site went offline early this year, I've been searching for word of what was happening to his kits. I had found a thread on Expedition Portal that noted he business was going to be reorganized, but I hadn't found any more info.

Update: this is the ExPo thread I was thinking of (http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/124718-Roam-offroad?p=1585559#post1585559) and Greg Forbyn has since chimed in to explain that they consulted with Tim to design their disc conversion kits and what the difference between theirs and ROAM OFFROAD's are.
