This was a bigger project than I had originally imagined.

Cleaned the gas tank by throwing some nuts and bolts in it and strapping it to the tire. We let the car do the "heavy lifting" while my friend and I drank a cold beer.

After we emptied out the gas in the tank, we realized that it was disgustingly dirty.

Had to do a few other things (muriatic acid, sand blasting, Steel stick epoxy, re-paint) but after all said and done - the tank is pretty clean and shouldn't be a problem.

One mistake was putting the muriatic acid inside the tank (eat away the rust) BEFORE putting the water in (dilutes the acid) . The muriatic acid ate through some of the weaker welding spots which created a few holes in the inside of the tank that were difficult to find.

Used some Steel Stick epoxy to plug the holes from the acid, repainted the tank and now we're back in business.
