    Lead Lamp Socket

Okay, I've spent a couple of hours dutifully scouring this forum looking for the answer to my question. No joy. Being somewhat distractible and nerdish - I was the kid who'd read the entire "M" volume of the Encyclopedia Britannica when I initially only had to look up melanistic - I have learned a lot about a lot of things but nothing about what I was after.

Once and for all, what can be plugged in the Lead Lamp Socket? What is a Lead Lamp? I read somewhere about a Lucas Torpedo Lamp but what I came up with were side lamps for the exterior, not something I think we'd want wires dangling out the windows for.

Does anyone do anything useful with these sockets?

    Thanks.

I always read them described as "Inspection Lamps."

      That's cool.

Great lead, if you don't mind the pun....
