Nope, and I wouldn't do it either. Not only is it a poser thing to do, someone is likely to steal it, and the constant UV exposure may weaken the safe working load limit.
Isn't your Bonnet heavy enough with just the tire on there? I know mine is.Bad gas mileage gets you to some of the greatest places on earth. -

Mark, you are looking at this from a totally different angle than I was. I was thinking he just wanted a rope storage place, but you are thinking to hold the spare tire down. That's what makes you an awesome inventor! Never would have thought of it from that angle!Bad gas mileage gets you to some of the greatest places on earth.Comment

In that case, I share James' well-stated assessment.--Mark

Here you go. There's got to be a rope wrapped around something somewhere on this. Of course, the equipment pictured has an actual purpose and isn't just attached for S&G:

It's hard to tell if we're being pranked here or not.
In that picture, the rope around the tire makes sense because:
1) It appears that they're are currently in the process of actual (and I hate using this word: ) expedition-type travel and
2) they have a capstan winch, which doesn't use a spool of wire rope, but rather uses an external rope, and
3) having the rope next to the capstan winch in the process of actual off-road travel where it will often be needed is logical.
I dare say that they don't pop down to their local mall then head over to the ice cream shoppe with all that crap on their Rover on a Tuesday evening but, again, to each his own, I guess...--Mark
