I'm trying to get the rubber plug to fill this hole in my 65 Series 2a

If that grommet is the same as the one on the tunnel cover, then it's 334189, but verify this--I only have a SIII parts catalog.

Yeah, I only have a series 2 catalog, I was hoping that our hosts might help.

What did they say when you called them?

Well the first time when they sent me the wrong part, "I've got it, no I don't want the Land Rover Part number." I think it's AFU2627, but am not 100% sure, I do find this part number in our host's website as well, they sent me part# 50216 instead which isn't even a rubber plug, it's a cork gasket, and isn't round. I just got off the phone with Buck at RN, and he's looking into it, he thinks its AFU2627 as well.

I just got off the phone with Buck, he was able to confirm the AFU2627 as being the right part, and is going to send me a return envelope for the wrong part, credit my account, and ship the right part to me. So I guess I'm all set.

interesting. That plastic plug is the one that blocks off the hole on the side of the brake servo tower, but I guess it's the same size as the bleeder hole, according to this thread on the SII forum: http://www.series2club.co.uk/forum/forum/index.php?topic=35349.0 .

That thread also says the hole is 1 5/8" diameter. I just pulled the 2 rubber plugs on my euro 2.6 tunnel and adapter and the holes measure 1 1/2" and 2" so those won't work. I just pulled the plastic plug off the side of the brake servo tower and measured the hole--1 5/8", though looking at the picture of your setup and this plastic plug, I can almost guarantee that you'll be disappointed in the plastic plug's willingness to stay installed in your bleeder hole.

You could always just make your own simple cap:

Actually Mark, that hole measures 1 5/8" which surprised me because I had a stainless 1 1/4" plug from the electrical store that didn't fit. I love it when you do the CADD drawings, so much effort, I like the design too with the stop-screw on the side.

Very cool concept for a blind instal plug where you have no rear access or don't have a second set of hands.

Harvey,
I have a plug which I think will fit. I'll bring it to AMD. OK?

Perhaps not as much effort as you might imagine. It's certainly more effort to try to explain something like that in words. Plus, I'm trying to sharpen my SolidWorks skills every chance I get.

I agree. I wish I could take credit for it, but they've been using those types of access covers in aviation applications since the dawn of time, though those are more sophisticated, manufactured items:
