    2.25 liter Engine ID

I've been looking at a few replacement engines and I have come across one with an engine ID of 30700095A; I can't seem to find out any information about the engine. The head casting number is 568750.

    Any thoughts?

The engine is currently in a LHD Series IIA.

    Thanks for any help.

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

    First regarding the Head...
TeriAnn has a nice summery of Head casting numbers HERE...

568750... 1967 to 1982... 7:1 and 8:1 More metal between the bottom of the head and the water jackets

As for the Engine Number, Glencoyne Engineering has a nice summery HERE...

Unfortunately, 30700095A isn't listed in the index. Are you sure you have it written correctly?

    Cheers!

I think I do have the number correct, see photo; the first number could be an 8 I guess but I think it's a 3.

I looked at several engine ID lists but didn't see much that had a 7 as the 3rd number, I think I saw a FC number with a 7 in this location but I can't recall where.

      Thanks;

      Tom

        Hey Tom,

Yep... it does look like a 307 prefix.

In that case, I'd post this question over on the "Series Two Club" forum in the UK - HERE (I'd include the Engine # picture... as well as a good picture of the engine itself)

If anyone might know more about the engine... they would.

        Cheers!

Do you have a pic of the Front cover/water pump?

Seems to be a very early Serial #.

I have also come across a 307 prefix engine and also see that it is not listed as a recognized engine number in any of the literature.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this mystery?

            Nigel

No, not sure of this sequence. Do you have any pix of the front cover? How many mounting holes in the water pump?

I have a 1971 Series IIA 88 LHD with the serial number 568780 30 digits off! Vehicle build date: 28th Aug 1971. Dispatched 10th of Sept. TeriAnn provided the info (As usual).
