    Squirrel Cage Question.....

    Hi All:

Is there a plastic replacement / substitute squirrel cage that will fit the Smiths Blower found in late IIA and III trucks?

My original metal one rusted over the years, so I sanded it (PITA) and applied galvy spray for protection. Having done that, it occurs to me that a plastic cage would not only eliminate the rust issue, but would also be much lighter and easier for the motor to spin.

Thanks in advance for any / all replies,

    Ted

The one in my '73 SIII is plastic. You might check to see what replacement fans are made of--they might all be plastic nowadays.

Thanks, Les! I was going to give you a call, as I didn't see it on the site. Is this galvanized? Lots of salt up here.....

Ted, yes it is galvy steel. So should not break up in the cold like the plastic ones do. Yes, I've been there with that !
