The wiper motor on my 1970 IIA is starting to squeek and rock back and forth so I've decided to remove and rebuild it. I'd like to finish it in one weekend so I'd like to order the most likely needed parts in advance. Does anyone have any suggestions of what is likely to be worn out and need replacement?

I also noticed that the rubber seals attached to the cover plate have melted. How do people replace them? I don't see them on our host's site.

Admittedly, I've only rebuilt one of these units, but my wiper motor was making a pretty terrible screeching noise and I thought it was a goner. After pulling it apart I found that it just needed the old grease (which had dried over time) cleaned off and refreshed with new lithium grease - then it worked as good as new. No new parts needed.

I found I had to pull apart the motor to add grease to the other end of the driveshaft (which was the bit making the horrible screeching).

You can strip it and re-grease it in 2 or 3 hours.

Good luck!
