speedo not working on 95 LWB

I just got a 95 lwb and the speedo does not work. Word on the street is this model year ditched the actual speedo cable set up for a sensor. Can anyone tell me a good spot to start figuring out why it doesn't work?

The Vehicle Speed Sensor is located on the transfer case. See if the thing is plugged in or what. It may have gone bad. Part #YBE100540.

Good info, thanks. Would it be safe to assume if it were bad i could swap it from one of my D1's?
