My steering box casing has cracked and I have sourced a complete replacement unit.

Before I install the replacement box, I figure I'll strip it down, clean it out and give it a refurb...

What are the issues that I'm likely to find?

I'm thinking that while I've got it opened up, I'll replace all the loose ball bearings - but what do I replace them with...? Steel, Crome, stainless steel....? What size and how many will I need?

Any and all suggestions appreciated...

Cheers,
Warren.

Not sure about New Zealand, but this is a commonly available rebuild kit which includes the necessary bearings, available, presumably, from most Series Rover parts suppliers.

All the best for the All Blacks Rugby team in the RWC 1/4 finals !
As Mark has said, these are available from many sources.
The Genuine ones have lasted for 40 plus years, so I would go that route plus gaskets and the out put O ring.
