If you choose to upgrade your fuel pump to the new style pump without a glass fuel bowl there are a few issues you need to consider. The most important is that the new style requires you to remove the studs from the engine where the old pump bolted on.

On my 2.5 NA Diesel you could just turn the studs out with vicegrips. On a 59/60 Series II the studs were secured on the otherside of the access panel (you have to remove all six or so bolts and take the entire panel off) by nuts that had cotter pins on the inside. We initally thought they were merely studs and spent about an hour cursing at the studs before taking the whole thing off.

Make sure you pay attention to the inlet and outlet sides of the pump too. In most cases you will have to cut up the factory line to allow the new pump to work as it's higher on the block than the stock pump. The fuel flow seems to be greatly improved compared to my 61 IIA that has a new old style (glass bowl) fuel pump.

All in all I'd consider this a worthwile upgrade.
