Strange metal strip

Does anybody have a part number for a small metal strip that goes behind the lower door seal? Kind of has a bead rolled into it. This is not the piece that is actually embedded into the back of the strip.

That's what I was thinking when I saw the photos, but those certainly aren't "small metal strips" as described in the OP.

Could he be referring to the metal strips that came INSIDE the original door seal weatherstrip (and are left behind when the rubber part rots away from around the metal strip) ??

It does look a bit too bulky. These are just strips, with a rolled bead along top, that appear to have been riveted behind the door seal. They aren't the metal strips inside the door seal though. Those came off with the door seal. I could always get a sheet metal shop in town to just roll the edge on some galv and then I could rivet it behind there. Just curious because I can't find what they actually are. :-/

What you're describing isn't a "small" metal strip. It runs the entire length of the door opening. After looking at mine, it definitely looks to be the above listed parts. Here's another picture from another parts book. Land Rover calls this part the sill channel. I can't find the part numbers for the rear doors.

Here's pictures of mine. Without the rust it is a bit easier to see. The top part of the channel goes under the edge of the seat box. You can see in the diagram above that three holes in the channel align with the three in the seat box and the other two align with the two in the floor panel.

Okay. Mine is different. Mine looks like a separate piece all together. You can see the end here. It will make it a lot easier to replace though. Just a rolled top bead on a strip that will get riveted between the bar and the door seal. Here is a better close up.

Mine is a '69. The parts book is an original Land Rover SIIA book. I'm surprised the part is different on your '67. I wonder if the part was replaced at some point with a homemade piece.

My 68's metal strip looks like the one in Colins pictures - albeit with a slightly different weather strip below it.

It is welded onto the T piece. You are not going to be able to find it separately. If you look at my restore thread you can see where I made a new one and replaced it before sending the t posts out for galvy.

It looks like these ones were replaced in the past them, because they are most definitely not welded along them. How do I find the thread where you made new ones?
