being a newbie, i am still getting my arms wrapped around my 1971 Series 2a 88. i have seen lots of LR2a like mine with 1 exception.... i have locking hubs on front and the REAR. anyone know why? was PO making a crawler? jsut dont know.... any help is appreciated.

The previous owner probably towed it a lot. Disengaging locking hubs is easier than disconnecting the driveshaft. BTW, I'm another '71 IIA owner.

did not think of that one.... could it be anything else??

Likely not. That's the only reason I've ever heard when someone has locking hubs on the rear.

RE the crawler comment..locking hubs do not lock the differential if that's what you're getting at.

That would make sense, quicker than taking a drive shaft out. Do you have pics? what kind of units are they?
