View Full Version : Problem with anti-rock grills over headlamps
My 1970 IIA 88" has protective grills over the headlamps and directional signals on the wings. They're riveted on. Is that standard? The problem is that I can't see any way to change the headlamp bulbs without drilling out the rivets. Before I do that, any other ideas?
I have the same year, same setup, but used stainless screws. I don't know why anyone would rivet them on....................

I used small stainless steel bolts with a rubber washer between the cage and the fender.

You will need to drill rivets and install new ones after tending to your bulb.

Maybe the reason for the rivets is an anti-theft preventive action?

I suppose that's possible, but considering that only the passenger door has a lock, it would be a bit pointless. Someone could just steal the whole truck and take their time with it. I guess I'll be drilling this weekend.
Thanks for the comments.
