Hi all,

I'm on the home stretch of the restoration of my 1964 Series 2a 88" station wagon.

I have an original multigauge (temp/oil pressure) but at some point a later model metric head was installed.

When I removed the temp bulb from the head, I found the adapter had the wrong thread for the head. The threads in the head are very fine and I cannot seem to find an adapter with the correct threads.

Can anyone point me to the correct adapter?

Also, the stainless braided hose that connects the oil pressure gauge to the engine does not seem to be available anymore.

Anyone want to share what they have done to replace the oil pressure line?

Thank you for your help!

Les,

Respectfully, that part does not appear correct for my head. My metric head appears to have a thread pitch darn close to a metric 1.0 pitch but I can't be sure since I don't have a metric bolt that big with a pitch that fine.

The adapter that I showed in my pictures was what came out of my head but was forced and cross threaded and definitely not correct.

What size and thread is the coolant temp port for the later model metric heads?

What do the shops do when putting a later model head on an early 2.25 engine and using an original mechanical multi-gauge?

Thanks

Not sure if the threads/connections are the same, but try Holden.co.uk (https://www.holden.co.uk/displayAgroups.asp?sg=2&pgCode=070&sgName=Hardware&pgName=Gauges) for a capillary for the oil gauge.

Another thing I'm not sure of is whether you will find an easy solution to the adapter problem. Don't forget about the port on the left rear of the head It's where the water temp sender lives on 2.5 engines. It's where plug p/n ERC9448 is shown in the diagram, below. Don't know if your heater feed/return hooks up there on your engine or if it has also been converted to be taken from the thermostat housing.

Here's something from the June 1988 SIII Parts Catalogue that may be of assistance in your research:
