    Battery not charging. Ideas welcome.

Series III 88. Young battery was dead. Would not take a charge even when removed from the vehicle and bench charged. Replaced the battery. Started the truck no problem. No charge light. Tested the new battery with a volt meter with vehicle running. It wasn't reading the expected 14v. It was 12.7v.

I have read that a dead charge light bulb could be the source of the charging problem.

Thoughts as to the source of the problem appreciated.

Alternator or generator? Either way check the voltage at the source, the alt/gen terminals. You may have a bad ground or power wire.
