Debris in gearbox.

I recently changed the gear oil in my Series 3 transmission, transfer case and overdrive and found a few bits of what appear to be spring steel in the fluid I drained; anyone have an idea what these pieces might be part of?

Best guess is from the synchro but hard to pinpoint since its distorted. Loose metal bits are always a bad sign.
