    Hood hinges and...

Just noticed the 2 hinges are designed differently. One kind of points up and the other down as in the pics.Click image for larger version

On the body the hole they slide into are equal and straight. Wonder why its made that way.

Anyone know what the purpose of the metal part at the rear at the top of the roof is. Click image for larger version

The purpose of the hook up in the last photo is for a Military style drop tail gate. Honestly not sure what the purpose of the little tab, you show is for, Cheers.

The hood hinge with the slot in should engage with a tag on the body part when you close the hood to prevent in from sliding sideway. Often the tag gets broken off or worn when people try and close the hood when its not properly located. Picture is of my Series one, & the tag has broken , you can just see the remains through the slot . The eyes on the rear part of the frame are for hinges on the drop down tailgate fitted on soft top vehicles .

ok thanks. Mine has no tabs or evidence of there ever being one. So the hinge with the slot goes on the drivers side? That's the hinge with pin going up at an angle. 7/8 of an inch space between hood and pin. Other side 3/8 in. space.

I am not really sure what you are saying about the pin angle . Both the two pins should be level, the hinges having a slope on them the match the angle of the hood . Looking at the picture the hinge with the slot should be on the right hand side ( Passenger in US) , do they need swapping over?

I took the hood off and then the hinges off to paint everything. When I put them on noticed they were different. So its an optical illusion with different spacing between hood and pin on each side that the pins are at an angle lol. I put a level on them and both are level. I didnt notice when I took them off which side had a slot so thanks for the tip.
