Trying to find out if anyone who posts here has used the defender bulkhead as a replacement for a rust out series III unit. I am aware there will be some differences but what were there? Not overly concerned that it isn't going to be "concourse" correct but structurally sound. I think I saw one vehicle on a site that had it done but would like more information.

Pretty sure it can be done as others have noted.

Not sure if you've seen this yet as it just went up last week under the Defender Clearance (http://www.roversnorth.com/store/c-22-defender.aspx) section. We do have a good deal on a new Land Rover Genuine Defender 90/110 bulkhead that has shipping damage. Kind of banged up but, I'm sure it can be fixed.

I will be picking up the vehicle on Weds and probably will stop up to Rovers North on Thursday to check out the Defender bulkhead since I will be in Westford VT. That will give me a chance to inspect the current bulkhead to see if it is worth it. Thank you so much.

I have also transformed a new defender bulkhead for a IIa. It even has the parcel tray on it and the average person would never know.

This website takes you through changing a Defender bulkhead to use on a IIa, this other site shows how another guy does it for others.

http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/bulkhead.htm

A difference between the two is the second one changes out the footwells while the first modifies the Defender footwells. Nick K stated that using Defender footwell works, but messes up the Mud sheilds.

dont be put off by the weird title on the first one. Nick Kilvert has the site and he also answered my email with more good information, a nice guy! I haven't done mine yet, will probably use a ratty but useable one I have found. the one on my '65 is shot!

good Luck

The foot wells on a LHD truck do not need modification. the mud shields just need a slight bend to match the different angle.. Very easy and not a problem.

On that web site, I do not see why they did not weld on the Parcel tray prior to galv. and welding...
