    custom fab'd skidplates?

Has anyone messed with underbody protection? Or seen commercial offerings? What areas, if any, have you found to be vulnerable? E brake? Diff covers?

    Thanks for thoughts... or pictures

Diff guards would be #1, at least a front one at a minimum.

Diff guards are a good start as they are somewhat inexpensive and easy to install. I found I got hung up on the engine or tranny crossmembers quite often. I made up a 1/4" thick aluminum plate to span between the two. Bent the leading and trailing edges up slightly and just through bolted it to the crossmembers. Helps to slide over rocks and stumps and cuts down on the drag through the mud. Also, buy or make yourself a good sturdy bumper as the stock ones tend to bend in and take out the bodywork.

Here's a skid plate off of a military model. I took a few pictures with it positioned on my old IIA 88". I sold the Rover, but still have the skid plate. It may be a good starting point for a custom x-fer case/e-brake skid plate.

WOW! Cleanest looking undercarriage of any 4x4 I've seen. Sweet! Nice work!
