For anyone that has a station wagon, can you tell me how the top piece of elephant hyde trim is attached to the door? Is it screwed into the lower piece of door or the upper window frame?

I ask because the new truck I picked up had a window frame collapse on the tow home this past weekend. It's north of me now, so I can't go look - but I'm afraid I lost the gray piece on the top of the window when the frame fell outward and down if it's not screwed to the bottom section of the door. Thanks in advance...

the top section fits or slides over the door(the piece you lost) , then you pull it down to seat it, then it has screws below to attach

awesome thank you! I wasn't sure if I lost it or not (had to leave in a hurry after I dropped off the truck)so most likely it's still there if it screws down on the door itself - that's great news!

unless I'm misunderstanding - there are two or three pieces total on the door?

From what I saw, it looked like there were two - one large one below the door handle and a smaller one above...

yes, my 61 has an upper and a lower, thats all . i leave the front door panels off in the warm months because i remove the door tops about every other day when i drive it. i like the wind in my hair!ill get you a pic in the next few minutes.....

the panel slides over between the steel door and the track the window slides in, you can see it in the pic

great looking truck!

so yeah - if that window frame crumbled and fell outward, the top piece would still be held in by screws I think....

(we're talking the elephant hyde panels here, which I didn't see in your pic)

yeah i think your right. i got the seats recovered last winter, im getting the doors and headliner done this winter(another reason there not on it). im going to put some kind of sound deadning stuff for the doors before i re-install the re finished panels, man is it noisy in there going down the road!:D
